Tell us about your Take Action Challenge. Why did you start this project, what impact did you want to make?

I started this project because I’ve met the children that benefit from a public school in Maya, Haiti, and I am so touched by there passion and excitement to learn. I am so blessed to be able to go to school and I’ve realized that so many others will never have that opportunity – so I’m doing something about it by raising funds to support this school and one day many others.

What did you accomplish?

I raised over $1500 and I am continuing to work on financially contributing for new uniforms, supplies, and teachers salaries for the upcoming school year.

How did you overcome obstacles?

I overcame obstacles by staying in touch with people who believe in me, and working with individuals that run the school from the states. Talking to people who understand my vision kept me motivated and helped me avoid feeling overwhelmed.

If you could advice to a future YWLC participant about her Take Action Challenge, what would it be?

Think big and be loud about it!
