The Pangea Network’s U.S. program, the Young Women’s Leadership Challenge (YWLC), was created in 2012 to develop the capabilities and potential of high school girls in the US. YWLC empowers them to become confident, equipped leaders and community changemakers through a year of activities, starting with a 6-day in person conference. This is followed by virtual monthly meetings which include expert speaker lectures, mentoring, volunteering, trainings, and Pangea’s signature Take Action Challenge (TAC).
The Pangea Network, founded in 2005, is an international non-profit dedicated to empowering women and youth in Kenya and the United States with the knowledge, skills, and an ongoing network of support in order to achieve their dreams and make positive, life-changing contributions in the communities where they live.
18,000 is the number of students and community members who have been impacted by the Take Action Challenge service projects of our Young Women’s Leadership Challenge Alumni since 2017.

Benefits of Being a
ywlc Alumni
The Alumni Network currently consists of over 400 high school and college-aged girls who have successfully completed the program. YWLC alumni push themselves and others to be impactful leaders. They share common bonds of drive, knowledge, skills, and attitudes of confident, empowered, and globally competent young women. Each student creates and executes their own passion-driven community initiative, or “Take Action Challenge” (TAC).
