What have you been up to since YWLC?
After graduating from YWLC, I became very active in my volunteer work at places such as the Houston Food Bank, Society of St. Stevens, and Memorial Hermann Hospital, among others. Upon graduating high school, I went Baylor University and then transferred to the University of Houston as a Biology major. Currently, I am working with MD Anderson and caring for cancer patients. After a couple of internships and shadow opportunities, I found myself shifting away from medical school goals and loving nursing so much more. Now I am about to graduate nursing school in 2021 and continue my journey to becoming a CRNA. 5 years from now I see myself as a successful CRNA who dabbles in a little of everything. I do not ever want to limit myself. To this day, I utilize all of the skills I learned at YWLC, which were vital to me growing both in my career and in my personal life. For example, thanks to YWLC’s financial literacy speaker George Lake, I used the budgeting skills he taught us to support my travels to France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Germany. Five years from now, I see myself as a successful CRNA who dabbles in a little of everything. I do not ever want to limit myself. Hopefully, I am still traveling the world and providing care for people in need!
